Issues and Recommendation for Human Resource Planning

Question: Talk about the Issues and Recommendation for Human Resource Planning. Answer: Poor Balance between Employee Satisfaction In any sort of association it is significant that the representatives working in it ought to have fulfillment in working for the association. This causes the association to accomplish its targets and objectives productively. As the Director of the HR division of the association I accept that it can't be said that all the representatives are fulfilled in the workplace. Along these lines, the representatives ought to be treated with deference independent of what profile they are working in, be it hands on or clerical employment profiles (Chaneta, 2014). Steps are to be taken for the workers to be engaged by permitting the representatives the ability to speak freely, offering pay and advantages over the normal scale. These give the representatives the inspiration and uplifting mentality to accomplish the destinations and objectives of the associations. In this manner, it is critical to keep up a harmony between representative fulfillment and accomplishing of objectives of the associatio n. High Staff Turnover Issue The idea of perfect laborer in the association has been risking the workforce from the essential level. Being the Director of HR of this association, the control of the workforce was not disregarded by me. The normal period of working ladies was additionally low. This has prompted a tenacious idea of a male of the family being a perfect specialist (Easterby-Smith, Thorpe Jackson, 2012). This idea can be changed and supplanted by spreading the idea of any individual independent of the sex being the perfect laborer and same measure of center ought to be given to the whole representative. Progressively number of female laborers ought to be employed for both the blue and desk work profiles in the association. Mindfulness among the industrial representatives ought to be spread with respect to the issue. Excessively Little Training and Poor Career Options Little or poor preparing for the staff of the association has been bringing about poor work result. The conduction of direction and enlistment programs for the new workers of all levels must be executed. Standard gatherings and instructional courses ought to be led for the representatives who have just been working in the association (Story, 2007). There ought to be openings for various openings for work in the association with respect to various work angles which would upgrade the adequacy of the administration in the association. Issues and Recommendation for Discrimination Lady feel segregated when coming back to bring down level occupations after maternity leave It has likewise been seen that the ladies laborers of the hands on work profile in the association feel segregation as there is a the greater part of the laborers (80%) and representatives are guys. On the off chance that there will be increasingly number of male specialist and workplace isn't acceptable the female may feel segregate when they joined after maternity leave. The organization needs to make working condition useful for those which return after maternity leave (Garca-Moreno et al., 2015). Too Little Support for Pregnant Woman New arrangement of strategies are to be characterize by the association for the pregnant ladies. They ought to be entitled for maternity leave as indicated by the wellbeing conditions. The pregnant ladies ought to likewise be qualified for a leaves if the wellbeing conditions request. The association need to allocate a group of clinical expert help with the association for the general soundness of the representatives of any level (Fox Quinn, 2015). The pregnant ladies, particularly having a place with the manual employment profile ought to be given clinical help remittances during post pregnancy by the association. Low Support for Work-Life Balance The poor work-life parity of the representatives and laborers in the association ought to be amended by making the representatives to impart and share their issues, booking legitimate working hours permitting sufficient non-work life to the workers. The representatives ought to likewise be given sufficient number of standard leaves in the association in order to furnish them with circumstances and time to invest their own energy. The representatives ought to be made to set their needs in both the workplace just as their own life (Ware, 2015). The association needs to make the representatives set explicit quantifiable destinations and objectives in order to keep up viable work and individual life bringing about a fair work-life. How Do I Choose a Major For My College Applications TKG

How Do I Choose a Major For My College Applications Choosing a major to write about in your college applications is important, but we’ll get to that in a moment. What’s way more important to understand is that it’s completely, totally, absolutely normal to not know what you want to do with the rest of your life. At 17 or 18, it’s rare to have everything figured out. It’s rare to have everything figured out, ever. You might have goals and ideas, and those goals and ideas might change more than once. That’s fine, too. Most of the students we work with panic when they tell them they have to choose a major before writing their supplement, so you’re not alone if trying to choose yours is causing you stress. We understand how scary it sounds, but it’s an effective application strategy and there are multiple reasons why:Admissions counselors like accepting students with a plan because they feel they don’t have to worry about them. Someone who has taken the time to think through the specificities of their major, admissions c ounselors assume, will probably graduate on time. These students won’t switch majors 4 times, take a semester off, and graduate in 6 years. And colleges care a lot about their four-year graduation rate. Admissions counselors therefore look for any signal that students are going to stay the course, stay focused, and graduate in four years. When students apply as undecided, that’s slightly a red flag their book. Admissions counselors are also trying to build a well-rounded class. If everyone who applies is undecided, it’s very hard to know how to balance the class. They want certain percentages for each major, so this is valuable information to them. We are in no way suggesting that you try to predict what they want. Selecting a major you don’t actually vibe with to fill a need in admissions in a surefire way of getting rejected. Do not @ us. So, one of the ways colleges gauge student interest in their particular school is by asking a variant of the “Why Us” question. They might use flowery and unnecessary language, but what they’re really asking is why do you want to go here, and not anywhere else. They want to know why X school the best place for you to further your education. And that’s where picking a major comes in, and the perfect time for you to wax poetic about your love of Biology. IMPORTANT: No one is going to hold you to the major that you write about in your supplement. Think of this is a research exercise meant to explore your potential interests, not set your future in stone. Once you’re admitted, you can major in whatever you want. But you need to pick a major to write about it, and the rest of this post will tell you how to do that. In case it wasn’t made clear before, and one more time for those of you in the back: you absolutely must pick a major to write about in your supplement. Writing about how you’re undecided and ~open to the possibilities of the future~ is not an option. One of our writers went that route many years ago when applying to Pepperdine, and graduated from another school four years later. Trust us, it doesn’t work. And again, you don’t have to stick with it. You should start by figuring out what you like. Ask yourself: ·           What classes in high school do I love the most? ·           What classes do I hate? ·           What do I read during my free time? What news topics do I gravitate towards? ·           What projects have I worked on that I actually enjoyed? ·           What academic clubs am I a part of?For two reasons, it’s pretty important to start by asking yourself these questions. 1) If you start your search by looking at every potential major offered at any given school, you’re going to get seriously overwhelmed. There will be majors you’ve never even heard of, and majors that will bore you to death. 2) The major that you pick should make sense within the context of the rest of your application. While it’s true that you probably (hopefully) have a multitu de of things that you’re interested in and would like to take classes on, you can’t major in everything. So let’s say you love Physics class and are on the robotics team, you might want to check out the engineering programs. Or you like AP English and started a book club, you’d head over to the humanities section of the website. Gather up a list of your academic interests and extracurricular activities, then do your best to match them to the available programs at the school you’re applying to. When you write about why you want to major in Linguistics, you need to back it up with examples of why you’re interested in and qualified for that major. That’s why you can’t pick something random.  And once you start writing, be specific. Especially with broader majors such as English that are offered at every school. You’re not just explaining why you want to major in Math, it’s why you want to major in Math at Cornell. That’s when you’ll go dig deeper and find speci fic classes, programs, and opportunities that are only available at the school you’re applying to. Most people don’t think of research as fun, but you should be excited when you’re looking through the program pages. If you’re bored to tears, then you’re not looking at the right major. You should give yourself an ample amount of time to look through the offerings, because it will make writing the supplement that much easier. We walk our clients through the research process. Gratitude Quotes That Come Straight From the Heart

Jean Baptiste Massieu, the famous deaf educator, made a statement that is now considered a French proverb: Gratitude is the memory of the heart. Indeed, appreciation comes when you feel grateful from the depths of your heart. The head keeps an account of all the benefits you give and receive, but the heart records the appreciation, humility, and generosity that one feels when someone showers you with kindness. If someone has done you a favor, given you a gift, or simply been a good friend, they deserve a thank you. Your relationships will be stronger, and youll feel like a good person by focusing on such positive emotions. Here are gratitude-themed quotes that fill your heart and inspire you to express appreciation at every opportunity. Alfred Painter: Saying thank you is more than good manners. It is good spirituality. Ralph Marston: Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it. Maya Angelou: I want to thank you, Lord, for life and all that’s in it. Thank you for the day and for the hour, and the minute. Toni Mont: To say thank you is in recognition of humanity. Joseph Addison: Gratitude is the best attitude. There is not a more pleasing exercise of the mind than gratitude. It is accompanied with such an inward satisfaction that the duty is sufficiently rewarded by the performance. Fred De Witt Van Amburgh: None is more impoverished than the one who has no gratitude. Gratitude is a currency that we can mint for ourselves, and spend without fear of bankruptcy. Edwin Arlington Robinson: Two kinds of gratitude: The sudden kind we feel for what we take; the larger kind we feel for what we give. Lionel Hampton: Gratitude is when memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind. Oscar Wilde: The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention. James Matthew Barrie: Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. Gordon T. Watts: The depth and the willingness with which we serve is a direct reflection of our gratitude. John Wooden: Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out. John F. Kennedy: As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. Alice Walker: Thank you is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding. Courtland Milloy: Nothing purchased can come close to the renewed sense of gratitude for having family and friends. Benjamin Franklin: To the generous mind, the heaviest debt is that of gratitude, when it is not in our power to repay it. Ralph H. Blum: There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy. Melody Beattie: Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Terri Guillemets: As each day comes to us refreshed and anew, so does my gratitude renew itself daily. The breaking of the sun over the horizon is my grateful heart dawning upon a blessed world. G. B. Stern: Silent gratitude isnt much use to anyone.

Education Is The Goal Of True Education Essay - 1001 Words

â€Å"Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.† -Martin Luther King, Jr. Education is similar to poetry, in that no one person’s interpretation is quite the same. An author may have a meaning in mind, but it’s specific meaning is determined by the reader. Similarity, education’s meaning and purpose is determined by the individual, and is often different from person to person. For Martin Luther King Jr. education is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about applying that knowledge to one s life and to help develop one’s values. Similarly Ulla Tervo-Desnick states that, â€Å"school should help students develop personally and socially, as well as academically.† Both agree that education is not only about the academics, but also about developing a person’s abilities to become a productive member of society. When thinking about schooling most students probably do not think that school is teaching them much more than the curriculum. With further analysis, whether a student is aware of it or not, students are learning much more than just the curriculum. Though academics and curriculum are important, developing personally and socially are vital components of education. Of Empires and Monarchies Essay Sample free essay sample

The birth of imperiums and monarchies brings us to a period in history wherein land invasions and conquerings were non uncommon. Almost every now and so. different lands would exert their control and authorization over foreign lands. This procedure. although it may necessitate force and coercion became a necessary tool for endurance and prolonging power and strength. Despite of the fact that â€Å"force† and â€Å"coercion† may arouse a certain grade of horror and ferociousness ; these two have become powerful tools in keeping domination and domination. Basically. an imperium is a geographical and political unit that is governed by a sovereign or an emperor. The lands under the ruler’s legal power are ethnically and geographically diverse. However. although these lands may portion certain differences and disparities. these does non truly situate a job since they are under a individual regulation or authorization. The beginning of the word imperium came from a Latin look â€Å"imperium ( Howe 13 ) . † Empire pertains to two of the most of import features of imperium and that is â€Å"rule and sovereignty ( Howe 13 ) . † However. as for the instance of the Roman and Han imperiums. sovereignty and regulation equate to making wars and jurisprudence execution. Therefore. the map of a male monarch or emperor can non be enclosed on being a mere political figure. His accomplishments are equated to that of a military an ( Howe. 14 ) . This serves as encouragement and motive for the whole unit to go on in claiming territorial rights ( Howe 14 ) . The rise and being are non sole to the West. The art and the apparently unbeatable forces of the Han imperium is a concrete illustration that the E would non desire to be left behind. There are several grounds for the proliferation of imperialism in the ancient times. First and first. there is the purpose to procure power. This is something that can non be readily attained if exercised merely in one’s native lands. This is why the term â€Å"size. † have taken a different significance during the early yearss ( Howe 13 ) . If control is merely manifested within a figure of communities entirely. the land can be easy defeated by impending interlopers and vanquishers. Once and for all. in footings of military forces entirely. an outnumbered ground forces can be easy outlasted. No affair how sophisticated the war tactics and schemes are. if the force needed to protect 1s sphere and occupy other districts are non plenty. so a sorrowful dirge is so inevitable. Empires need formidable warriors and soldiers that can support their land Scopess. Another ground that would outdo explicate the prevalence of imperiums is rooted to economic intents. The production benefits of conquered lands and countries are manner excessively resistless. Barter and trade occurs because there are basic demands that a land can non back up or supply. It needs to seek aid from other parts that is capable of carry throughing or fulfilling some of its citizens’ demands and demands. Several natural stuffs and resources may non be readily available due to environmental limitations and hinderances and when the jurisprudence of supply and demands is applied. the costs that are allotted in geting those stuffs become much more expensive. This besides excludes the fact that male monarchs and leaders besides have a preference for the finest trade goods that are available in the market. Therefore. sing the figure of stakeholders and concerns that has to be addressed. plus the traditional processs for market growing. so. advancement may come at a really slow gait. But the face of imperialism changed it all. Once and for all. an imperium can readily work the low production costs that are present in conquered lands. Cheap labour fundamentally becomes the empire’s chief strength. They can besides enforce which merchandises have to be produced and marketed. The last but non the least. imperiums can command the overall trade system within the communities that they control and to a certain extent—manipulate. The last but decidedly non the least is to keep a political threshold among royal household members. For illustration. outstanding households which aim to retain their societal stature and influence usage matrimony to widen their political bounds. The minute wherein imperiums are established. it can be observed that the royalty would use exogamies so as to forestall any unannounced struggles and issues and at the same clip protect political involvements. This procedure is widely known as composite monarchy ( Howe 14 ) . The purpose to prolong and widen power. retain political influences and economic laterality best explain the prevalence of monarchies and imperiums. When it comes to leading. there is no uncertainty that the presence of a strong leader is critical in developing civilisation and growing. Having a individual swayer as for the instance of different monarchies. to be more specific. in the East postulates certain advantages. First of all. it would cut down the emphasis and tenseness when it comes to political quandary and issues. Merely a individual leader would find the appropriate solutions and attacks. This is of class. without a entire disregard to the suggestions and pieces of advice provided by their several counsellors and advisors. More or less. the Torahs and ordinances that will be implemented are congruous to each other and unvarying in nature. Leaderships act as accelerators of alteration and precursors of development. They can act upon the positions and sentiments of persons under their regulation. They act as theoretical accounts and heroes and inspirational beginning for many of the kingdom’s loyal citizens. If the ideals of strong leading. in monarchies’ context were readily practiced and exercised. prolonging both the land and imperium would non be really hard. Since monarchies more or less regulation or regulate a set of diverse communities. the ability to pull off people is indispensable. Since male monarchs and swayers do non truly hold the luxury of clip to often see their several settlements. they should guarantee that their appointed leaders were expeditiously put to deathing their assigned functions and maps. As imperiums widen and with the aid of strong leading exhibited by monarchies. assorted civilizations were shared and this is indispensable in civilisation growing. However. due to empires’ immense range. their diminutions were however attributed for the failure to run into the demands of imperium nutriment every bit good as weak leading on the monarch’s portion. 7 Facts about Famous Speakers Who Gave a Graduation Speech

7 Facts about Famous Speakers Who Gave a Graduation Speech If you have been chosen to give a graduation speech, congratulations are at order. Your academic excellence and confidence have definitely attracted the attention of your instructor. However, you now need to create a speech that proves that you were truly the best choice. While you are welcome to take a shortcut and simply pick one of our 20 topics for a graduation speech, you can be inspired by the following seven facts from the graduation speeches of prominent celebrities and well-known personalities. Steve Jobs gave a commencement address at Stanford University graduation ceremony in 2005. The innovator had dropped out of college because it was too expensive. However, he stuck around the college for 18 months and snuck into classes he thought were interesting, including calligraphy class. During his speech, he told the students to follow their hearts and trust them to lead them through. He went on to mention that the worst thing they may face could very well turn out the best thing that could happen, giving them the example of his public dismissal from Apple, which led to NeXT and Pixar as well as meeting his wife. Finally, he urged the students to listen to their inner voice and to stay hungry for knowledge and foolish enough to seek it at all times and places. Naval Adm. William H. McRaven, BJ 77 gave the commencement address at the graduation ceremony of the University of Texas Austin in 2014. During his 20-minute speech, he told students to begin by doing the little things right before moving on to the larger ones. He also advised them to seek the help of others, be it friends, colleagues, or even strangers. To choose the right people though, they would need to assess individuals by their will to succeed rather than their color, education, social status, or ethnic backgrounds. McRaven also went on to explain that people who wanted to change the world should be capable of meeting life’s ups and downs with their heads held high; to slide down obstacles face on, and continue to shine during their darkest moments. David Foster Wallace, the author of â€Å"Infinite Jest†, one of Time Magazine’s100 best English-language novels published since 1923, gave the commencement address at the graduation ceremony of Kenyon College in 2005. His speech became so famous that in 2009 he published its concept in a book called â€Å"This is Water†. In the 2005 speech, the author told students to appreciate keeping things in mind. He went on to explain that they needed to learn and remember important life lessons from the very first time and never forget them regardless of how much trouble they face. Another important concept he focused on was the importance of using higher education to effectively assess others and act appropriately in everyday life. Ellen DeGeneres was the keynote speaker at the 2009 graduation ceremony of Tulane University. The comedian-turned-show-host shared the experiences that made her the confident, free-spirited person she is. She especially focused on the tumble her career took when she decided to tell the truth about her sexuality in order to be true to herself. However, she told the students that she managed to remain true to herself. Despite the hardships she had faced, she managed to succeed and achieve more fame than she imagined. Oprah Winfrey gave a speech at the 2007 Howard University graduation ceremony. She addressed the students, telling them not to be scared since nobody knows for sure where they will go in life. Instead, they may actually be able to succeed simply because they received ample nurturing at the institution. She then goes on to say that everyone has a calling, which is why they are part of this world. Oprah urged them to find out what they are supposed to do and begin doing it. She provided them with examples from her own life, including when she first decided to be on TV despite the entertainment industry’s racist views. Will Ferrell gave an extremely humorous speech at the graduation ceremony of Harvard University in 2003. While some may think the speech was entirely comedic and had no substance to it, it was actually the opposite. The comedian told the students about the real world through his eyes and experiences without sugarcoating it at the least. He explained that their life has been sheltered so far and that the worst is yet to come. One interesting bit of advice Ferrell shared is to question leaders the right number of questions at the right time. J.K. Rowling gave a powerful speech titled ‘The Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination at the 2008 graduation ceremony of Harvard University. The author of the ‘Harry Potter’ series went on about her fair share of disappointments, which began when she was not accepted in Oxford University in 1981. She even told students that the fact that they were graduating from Harvard probably meant that they have not been acquainted with failure. However, Rowling told them that they should not let the world decide what constitutes failure, but rather decide its criteria for themselves. Moreover, they should be ready to face inevitable failure head on. After all, to her, it meant stripping individuals from the unnecessary and gaining the determination to learn more about herself. With a new approach and knowledge, she would emerge wiser and stronger. You can use these seven facts to be inspired while writing your own speech. President Richard Nixons Administration essays

President Richard Nixon's Administration essays January 20, 1969, Richard Nixon was sworn in as the thirty-seventh president of the United States. Nixon's vice-president was Spiro T. Agnew. His work as president started weeks earlier before he even took office. Those weeks were spent choosing the people who would be in his cabinet. In 1969, one of the most urgent businesses facing him was finding a way to end the Vietnam War without allowing the government of South Vietnam to be defeated by Communists. Nixon decided to drop bombs on Cambodia. Some of the people in Congress were upset with his decision, saying that it seemed that he was making the unpopular war more widespread. Nixon answered that he was only trying to end the war swiftly. A year later he orders troops to invade some areas in Cambodia where Communist troops were hiding in the jungle. This invasion started huge anti-war protests all over the United States. College students did most of the protesting destroying many college campus buildings by setting them on fire. The problem with the Communists in Vietnam had been passed to Nixon by the three presidents before him, in which none of them could solve the problem. Another thing was the economy of America. Inflation was at very high levels. People were losing their jobs. Nixon, unlike any ot her Republican president, made a big announcement on August 15, 1971. The prices of all good and service and the wages of most Americans would freeze for ninety days. During the ninety days, stores could not raise the prices of any items sold in the store. Also, workers could not ask for raises or higher salaries. After the ninety-day period, Nixon asked all Americans to follow the changes in the prices and the salaries very carefully. This request to the people, sounded like Nixon was trying to run the United States like a Communist government. After World War II ended, no American president had visited a Communist nation while in office. Nixon ended t...

Visiting a church Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Visiting a church - Research Paper Example And the first time I bothered to read said â€Å"judgment must begin at the house of God,† apparently my good friend and neighbor is a staunch member of the church. We planned to visit the church but didn’t reveal any of my motives to him. We were to visit the church on a normal Sunday service on 20th April, 2012. This date was convenient in some way as it was â€Å"Easter Sunday† my neighborhood friend was going to provide me with all the information that I needed as he had a lot of faith in me and he perceived me as if I was going to join the church, and become part of the staunch congregation like him. Roman Catholic Church was located and planted as a traditional charismatic/evangelical congregation in the mid-1980s. By late 1990s the congregation had taken on what is commonly known as â€Å"seeker sensitive† model of doing church. I noticed that the demographic of Roman Catholic Church was primarily suburban, Caucasian, middle class individuals and families ranging in age from twenty to fifty year olds. Roman Catholic Church is part of the denomination that was birthed in the midst of the Church Growth Movement in the late 1970. I also observed that the church relates to the community in a good manner. The community at large felt affiliated so much to the church because as my neighbor friend told me, the church is a place of solution to human’s problem, and agency providing answers in specific contexts, not only spiritually, but politically, socially and otherwise. Roman Catholic Church has attracted all sort socio-economic classes. It was evident during my visit to the church that all form of classes is represented in the congregation from the upper, middle, and low class. Some sporty automobiles that were present at the parking lot were evident that there was upper class, and some of the congregation did not have any cars they either walked or used a public means to

Clinical use of Forgiveness Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Clinical use of Forgiveness - Research Paper Example motes healthy interpersonal relations as it makes it easier people to get along with each other in good spirit and with no grudges held against one another (Braaten and Darling, 1962). It is based on such studies that the current research paper is being conducted as a means of using quantitative strategies and data collection approaches to test the validity of this position held in literature. But more importantly, the researcher holds the position that before the benefits of forgiveness can be experienced there must first be a means by which forgiveness can take place. In the light of this, the study also focuses on selected factors that can influence the ability of people to forgive each other. On the whole, the study comes as a two-way approach which first focuses on factors that bring about forgiveness and the outcome of forgiveness. To do this, a various sample sizes made up of people with some level of religious background and those with no religious backgrounds were set. The reason for doing this was to measure religiosity and its impact on affecting a person to be forgiving. There were different outcomes that were measured in the various sample groups. These included behavior, affect and cognition. Later in the study, the findings of the intervention on its ability to lead to forgives and the outcome of such interventions are presented and discussed. It is widely known that religiosity and forgiveness have a positive impact on an individual’s psychological, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Numerous studies have attested to the fact that religiosity and forgiveness moderate the growth of suicidal ideation, especially for adolescents. However, even though these correlations are well-documented further research is still needed in this area because of some major gaps in the literature, like the use of cross-cultural methods in examining the correlation between forgiveness and suicidal ideation. Therefore, this study formulated three hypotheses,

Absurdism And Existentialism In Their Novels English Literature Essay

Absurdism And Existentialism In Their Novels English Literature Essay The theme of absurdism used by Franz Kafka and Albert Camus does full justice to bring out the pathos in both The Outsider and The Metamorphosis by Albert Camus and Franz Kafka. They establish the unsettling existence of the both the protagonists. The present situation of the narrators brings to life incidents that justify their unpleasant situations and what they are going through in their respective lives. Where existentialism questions mans existence in a particular social system; absurdist investigates characters that are placed in society that is devoid of God and how syllogism and parody loom large over the entire situation. Hence The Outsider and Metamorphoses have existentialism and absurdism as the philosophical tools that take these stories ahead. In The Outsider, for instance, Mersault does not regret the death of his mother but instead goes to watch a comedy film and indulges in a love affair with his girlfriend while In The Metamorphosis Gregor wakes up to find himself transformed into a vermin and his life changes from that point on. The effect of the absurdism soon takes over the lives of both the characters unwittingly and they are faced with questions about their own existence which makes both the novels existentialist in their themes. Existentialist philosophy in a way proves the importance of human individuality and liberty. Camus concretizes an absurdly dramatic story of a man who has no emotions in him evidently in the opening lines Mother died today. Or maybe yesterday, I dont know. I had a telegram from the home: Mother passed away. Funeral tomorrow. Yours sincerely. That doesnt mean anything. It may have been yesterday. He- does not even feel obliged to justify his reason behind such odd and discourteous avoiding of any emotional involvement. Speaking briefly with the director of the home, Mersault tells him that he did not feel any guilt at having sent his mother away. He even declines an invitation to view the body, but keeps vigil with it overnight, in accordance with the custom. When asked by the undertaker how old his mother was, he replies Fairly, for in truth he doesnt know her exact age. His going for a swim with a woman of his acquaintance at an inopportune time proves once again futility of his life. As an embodiment of absurdism, Mersault doesnt see any need to fulfill or dispel the discomfort from the minds of the people as his nature was very offending to other people. He seemed completely inhuman, and never believed it was important to live up to the expectations of others and follow etiquette. According to me, every human being goes through the kind of unpleasant and embarrassing situations Mersault and Gregor face but it principally depends on how a writer decides to detail and sketch these characters. There is a funeral procession, in the heat of the day, across the parched, sun-drenched landscape, and once again, Mersault is disturbed by the light, the sun, and the heat, and feels unable to concentrate. This uncanny effect to the point of blinding ones vision evinces unjustifiable discomfort Mersault exudes towards the society. The Outsider is set in Algiers, where our protagonist Mersault, who was a bachelor, is leading a life that questions his existence. He does not show any interest in his job and does not believe in socializing with other people around him. As the story goes ahead, the reader gets to see the quirkiness of Mersault towards the world with conflicting emotions that make him commit a deadly crime. This marked nature of Mersault is brought out in the narrative in many incidents in the book; one of them being in chapter four where he is not at all concerned about Raymond torturing his wife. He responds matter of factlyAt about 3 in the morning there was a knock on my door and Raymond came in. I didnt get up. I sat at the edge of my bed. He didnt say anything for a minute and I asked him how it had gone. He told me that he had done what he wanted to do but shed slapped him and so hed beaten her up. Id seen the rest. I told him I thought that this time shed really been punished and he ought to be pleased. Mersaults brusque attitude towards other people around him reckons him as an outcast. I feel that the writers philosophical stance is unique, as he puts immense emphasis on the belief of absurdism and we need to understand what absurdism is ? Absurdist fiction is the manifestation of certain beliefs that dominated the works of a number of playwrights during the middle of the 19th century. This form of fiction implies that in a world that is devoid of God, the existence of human being shall have no strong foundation, it would be meaningless. The absurd elements in such plays and fiction were the fact that man has been thrust into a world where he cannot survive on his own instincts but is maneuvered by a force invisible to him. He is caught up in paradoxical situations and finds no reprieve by communicating or logical action. His actions and dialogues turn out to be a mockery of his own existence. The best part about the narrative is that it does not preach with a message but at the same time does tend to ask us some important questions about humans and their social existence. The narrative is kept simple but is compelling nevertheless. Therefore, the work is a reflection of Camuss moral axiom. Like Camus, Kafka too was existentialist and adapted to an absurdist way in carrying the narrative of his stories ahead as traces of his style are evident in his letter to Max Brod. In Franz Kafkas The Metamorphosis, the absurdist and existentialist elements form the main parts of Kafkas narrative. The story begins with the line When Gregor Samsa awoke from troubled dreams one morning; he found that he had been transformed in his bed into an enormous bug. After realizing that his life would never be the same again Gregor starts realizing certain truths about his existence which had not come to his realization before. He starts to reflect on his own being. Till the day before he had been a hardworking salesman who looked after his family but now he cannot continue the same life anymore. Now after Gregors transformation his parents and sister realize that they shall now have to look after Gregor and start making a living of their own. This leads Gregor into a state of depression which he can only observe but cannot do anything about it. His family is robbed of happiness and normalcy and though they are trying their best to cope with it, their disparity is clearly evident in these lines of the second chapter- Now his sister working with her mother had to do the cooking too; of course that did not cause her much trouble since they hardly ate anything. Gregor was always hearing one of them pleading in vain with one of the others to eat and getting no answer except thanks, Ive had enough or something similar. They all knew the unpleasantness they had to confront but none of them had an answer to it. I think that both the stories are existentialist and absurd in their narratives, and they both create a long lasting impact on readers and create a serious sense of debate about human existence and the acceptance of social rules. The Outsider is a well juxtaposed prose of absurdism and existentialism. Mersault is a social outcast and his further actions only make him an object of ridicule in his own society. One cannot see any kind of redemption for Mersault in his predicament; he is doomed and destined for a fatal end. The parts of the story where Mersault is wallowing in self doubt are existentialist in theme and the parts where he is unsuccessfully trying to find out the answers that can legitimize his actions are absurdist. Kafkas Metamorphoses sees Gregor going through an amalgamation of emotional, physical and mental dilemmas. His physical transformation into a vermin is the main culprit. This transformation creates an emotional and mental mayhem in him. It can be said about Gr egor that he has the answers but is in search of the questions. So, the Metamorphoses begins in an existentialist way but ends with an absurdist plot.

Supporting Prayer in Public Schools Essay -- Religion

â€Å"Our Father†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Denied For centuries, the debate has existed whether or not to allow prayer in public schools. Many Americans feel it is not right of the schools to teach religion. With all the diversity associated with the United States, public schools cannot select one standard religion to practice, due to the cultural and religious differences in the country. Not only are schools the storm center of controversy involving religious differences, they are the principal institution charged with transmitting the identity and mission of the United States from one generation to the next. If we fail in our school policies and classrooms to model and to teach how to live with differences, we endanger our experiment in religious liberty and our unity as a nation. According to the First Amendment of the Constitution, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof (usconstitution.net). The writers of the Constitution made it an important point in protecting freedom and religion. The writers then even stressed the importance of being able to be in any religion that suited a person. â€Å"The First Amendment of the Constitution removes government from the realm of religious belief and practice so that the state can neither subvert nor manipulate religion to serve secular, public ends† (Keynes and Miller 177). It is pure ignorance for someone to think that one religion is accepted throughout the world. No man or woman should be forced into a specific religion, quieted by peers, or not allowed to gather as a group of students just to pray. â€Å"A Congress that allows God to be banned from our schools while our schools can teach about cults, Hitler and even devil worship is wron g, out of t... ...reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what you have done in secret, will reward you† (Matthew 6:5-6 Holy Bible NIV). It would be beneficial to all if the advice set forth by Matthew the Apostle, was followed both in private life and mirrored with public schools. Works cited U.S Constitution Online. Hy Dairies, Inc. Essay

Analysis Rochelle Beauport an assistant brand manager for HY Dairies and is one of the few women of color in brand marketing management. She played a prominent role in increasing the organization’s sales volume, and market share by improving sagging sales of their popular gourmet ice cream. This achievement did not go by un-noticed; Rochelle’s boss, Syd Gilman the vice president of marketing promptly offered Rochelle a promotion to a lateral position of market research coordinator. Syd justified assigning the role of market research coordinator to Rochelle because it gives her broader experience, and access to high profile work, which would enhance her career. Syd took the same path to the office of vice president of marketing; Rochelle thought this promotion was a demotion in â€Å"job status† and not a route to top management, and an implied assumption of racial inequality. Syd obviously overestimated Rochelle’s belief of moving to market research coordinator wou ld be the same as his, and now Syd’s false â€Å"consensus effect† has threatened Rochelle’s values and dedication to HY Dairies. Concept Complexity Complexity is the distinct role or identity that people perceive about themselves; to this point Syd did not see himself as stereotyping Rochelle because he did not view the promotion as a negative but rather a preparation for her future with the company. The lack of communication in this case study shows everyone has their perception of things and if you do not open the lines to effective communication you can cause issues within the organization. Self Concept Self-concept has a more varied effect on behavior and performance; Rochelle  defined herself as a person who overcomes challenges, specifically her role controlling a product that directly affected HY Dairies’ profitability. This â€Å"opportunity† resonated as a restriction in career growth and not an advance in her career in brand management. Ms. Beauport views this new job that could hurt her career. Without clarity on the position from Syd, Rochelle now examines her self-concept and defines herself as a â€Å"black woman with no future in brand management.† Recommendations Syd and HY Dairies must be aware of perceptual biases, and to do that, HY Dairies must know that it exists. In Syd’s and Rochelle’s situation, it is obvious that diversity awareness a necessary requirement. This process if implemented, attempts to minimize discrimination, this makes employees aware of systemic discrimination. Awareness of perceptual biases reduces biases by making employees more mindful of their thoughts and actions. HY Dairies should also minimize perceptual biases by increasing self-awareness; from this insight, employers have an enhanced understanding of biases in their decisions and behavior. If Syd used self-awareness when considering offering the promotion to Rochelle, he would have displayed authentic leadership and able to explain to Rochelle his vision of her in the role of market research coordinator. Discussion Questions Apply your knowledge of stereotyping and social identity:  Within this case study both stereotyping and social identity came into play. The employee identified herself as a minority, feeling as if the job offer was a negative due to her skin color and gender. The employee further felt she was being stereotyped for being a woman due to the lack of communication from the vice president. If the vice president took the time to explain the reasons for the new job offer and where he saw his employee’s future, it could have eliminated the feelings his employee felt. What other perceptual errors are apparent in this case study: Perceptual errors that are apparent in this case study is the employee felt she was being discriminated against due to an experience at her previous employer. She made the assumption that the job offer was a negative when in fact it was a positive. Another perceptual error was the vice president felt he communicated the promotion  well to the employee, when in fact he was very vague in the job offer. He could have explained the reasons behind the promotion, further explaining his previous position and his future goals for her within the organization. What can organizations do to minimize misperception in these types of situations: In order to minimize misperception in stereotyping situations an organization must implement effective communication throughout the organization. Implementing programs such as diversity training for all employees, with additional training for supervisors to learn ways to maintain fair employment practices where employees feel comfortable. It is important that all employees are held accountable and if anyone, regardless of position, violates a policy that there are consequences to ensure employees have faith in the organization and its leadership.
